Weekly Comms Roundup 6 July – 10 July 2020

Pizza Brand Papa John’s have introduced a new ‘Spice Guy’ to mark the range of their new spicy pizzas. In a parody of the Old Spice adverts, Love Island’s Luke Trotman replaces Isiah Mustafa in the role – and it is definitely worth a watch!

ZSL (the people who run London and Whipsnade zoos) have launched a new campaign appeal film with the help of Sir David Attenbrough. Sir David has warned that London Zoo and its conservation work are at risk of extinction due to COVID-19 and the lack of income experienced during this time. Check out the video here:

Captain Birds Eye will no longer feature on packs of fish fingers for the first time, with the popular character being replaced by ‘Captain Charlotte.’ A competition winner, Charlotte Carter-Dunn won a competition to be the temporary face of the brand which involved using her freezer in clever ways to trim money and wastage on their weekly shop.

Following on from last week’s news that brands were boycotting Facebook, a review has hammered the platform’s civil rights record in an audit commissioned by the company. The 100 page report has called for changes, and Facebook have responded that they will make some (but not all). Over the past few weeks, nearly 1,000 advertisers have now boycotted Facebook.
