The announcement of Joe Biden as US President Elect could mean big changes for social media. Section 230 of the US 1996 Telecommunications Act has come under fire as the legislation protects any platform in the country from being legally liable for what users post. Revising the section could lead to more fact-checking, protecting users from the spread of misinformation. Could this spell the end of the fake news era?


Whilst McDonald’s viral tweet touched on the mental wellbeing of Social Media Managers, this week, an article from OneZero sheds more light on the struggles of being the sole voice behind a brand during the pandemic. The article frames social media as vital for brands to make sure they are sharing the right information at the right time. Think about it, where would brands be without their Social Media Managers?

Ad Campaigns


Too early to think about Christmas? Think again! Coca-Cola is launching its Christmas campaign marking 100 years since it’s first festive ads. Unfortunately, you won’t be spotting any iconic red trucks on the roads this year as the truck tour cancelled due to COVID-19. Instead, you can look forward to the relaunch of its cinnamon flavour in time for Christmas!


In other festive news, Disney has released it’s Christmas ad in support of Children’s charity Make-A-Wish which they’ve pledged to donate $100,000 to help grant the wishes of critically ill children. The ad follows a grandmother and her granddaughter, showcasing the importance of tradition touchingly and sentimentally. Someone pass the tissues!
