There’s still a chance to get your hands on tickets before it kicks off this Bank Holiday weekend.

The social team were busy this week heading to several photo shoots in preparation for Hard Rock Cafe’s upcoming Pinktober and Freddie for a Week campaigns. Keep an eye out as they’ll be launched in the next few weeks!

Social Media News

And now, time for the latest in social media updates and features so you can make the most of the platforms:

  • TikTok may soon take over Google as the most popular search and discovery platform, according to a study by Google. It revealed that almost 40% of young people turn to TikTok when they’re looking for a place to visit or dine, instead of using the search engine.
  • In a bid to maximise the tools available for creatives on the Linkedin app, it’s now providing template options for posts with a range of fonts and backgrounds to choose from.
  • Meta is going ahead with its plan to implement end-to-end encryption for its messaging apps. It will enable users to store their messages in an encrypted server, accessible via a pin number. Meta is also testing other features such as unsending messages and replying directly to stories.
  • WhatsApp has launched its app for Windows PCs, streamlining communications between users’ phones and computers. Whilst the platform has been accessible via web browsers, the app, which has been optimised for desktops, will provide increased speed and reliability.

Dennis the Menace Talks Internet Safety in EE Campaign

EE has teamed up with an unlikely character in a bid to raise awareness on internet safety amongst children. Dennis the Menace, hailing from the timeless comic series Beano, is on a mission to educate parents on how to keep their children safe online.

The special edition of the comic illustrates possible scenarios between Dennis and his cousin Minnie, educating the viewer on the dangers of the internet, such as befriending strangers posing as celebrities, or engaging in cyber-bullying.

It was launched after a poll of 1,000 parents with children aged 6-18 found 60% were concerned their children didn’t know how to protect themselves online. EE also concluded that 46% of those parents didn’t know enough about the dangers to warn their children about it.

To address the concerns found from the poll, EE has created the ‘PhoneSmart Licence’, an online course to educate children on how to stay safe and behave online. Whilst it’s impossible to stop children engaging with the online world, at the very least, there can be resources in place to shed light on what can happen and how to avoid harm that could come about from a lack of awareness.

Animation has always been a popular way to convey important messages to younger people, and this promo is a great way to start the conversation between parents and children – especially using a character as classic as Dennis!
