LONDON (April 2018): IMG has announced that Grigor Dimitrov, Hyeon Chung and Lucas Pouille have joined the line-up for this year’s Aspall Tennis Classic at the prestigious Hurlingham Club, with more players still to be announced. The Aspall Tennis Classic brings world-class tennis and hospitality together for an unmissable summer event. Taking place between Tuesday 26th and Friday 29th June 2018, the Aspall Tennis Classic is the ultimate warm up for Wimbledon.

Kicking off the British summer tennis season and set against the pristine emerald grounds of The Hurlingham Club, the Aspall Tennis Classic is the perfect place to unwind and watch some of the sport’s most loved players. World No.5 Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov first broke into the top 10 in 2014 after advancing to the Wimbledon semi-finals, having defeated defending champion Andy Murray. Dimitrov claimed the biggest title of his career at the 2017 Nitto ATP Finals, finishing the season at a career high of World No. 3. He won four of his eight ATP titles in 2017, including Brisbane, where he beat top 10 opponents Dominic Thiem, Milos Raonic and Kei Nishikori.

Rising star and top 20 player South Korean Hyeon Chung began this year with the biggest win of his career, beating World No. 4 Alexander Zverev in the third round of the Australian Open. He went on to upset six-time champion Novak Djokovic to reach his first Grand Slam semi-final, becoming  the youngest player to do so since Marin Cilic in 2010. Chung is the current Next Gen ATP Finals Champion. This spring, Chung passed Nishikori in the ATP rankings to end the Japanese player’s seven-year reign as the No. 1 Asian player, achieving a career-high of World No. 19. This will be Chung’s first time playing at the Aspall Tennis Classic at Hurlingham.

Accompanying Dimitrov and Chung is Frenchman Lucas Pouille, who turned pro in 2012 and claimed his first ATP title in 2016 at Metz. Pouille was the only player in 2017 to win titles on three different surfaces (Budapest clay, Stuttgart grass, Vienna hard). Pouille sealed the 2017 Davis Cup title for France by defeating Belgian Steve Darcis. He is currently ranked World No. 11.

2018 will mark the 25th anniversary of the event, which, over the years, has become one of the world’s most star-studded tennis exhibitions, tying together premier hospitality with a stellar player line-up. During its 25-year history, some of the sport’s best players have competed at the event, including Grand Slam champions Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal, Stan Wawrinka and Marin Čilić, as well as Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Kei Nishikori. The Aspall Tennis Classic also draws many celebrity spectators; in the past, attendees have included Eleanor Tomlinson, Emilia Fox, Sol Campbell and Romeo Beckham.

An IMG event, the Aspall Tennis Classic at Hurlingham takes place at the height of the tennis season, during the week prior to Wimbledon. Set on the tranquil 42-acre grounds of The Hurlingham Club, it is one of the most intimate tennis events in the social calendar, showcasing both the stars of today and all-time legends playing in a series of singles exhibition matches as they finalise their preparations ahead of Wimbledon.

About Aspall

Innovation and invention have been at the heart of Aspall ever since Clement Chevallier arrived at Aspall Hall in 1728 to set up his new cyder business.  While upholding the same exacting standards set by Clement nearly 300 years ago, the business has continued to innovate and improve.  Today, with its immense heritage, Aspall is recognised as a brand that values its past while enthusiastically embracing the future. Aspall cyder is still pressed, fermented, blended and bottled on site at Aspall Hall but by embracing new ideas and technologies it continues to produce the very British world-class cyders, juices and vinegars for which it is celebrated.
