World-famous art curator to the stars Jean-David Malat is to give away £15,000-worth of art to coincide with the opening of his debut London gallery: JD Malat Gallery.
The prestigious art dealer, who boasts an extensive clientele made up of famous faces, diplomats, socialites, and political figures, will give the first 30 people to enter his Mayfair gallery an exclusive print by up-and-coming artist Henrik Uldalen on Monday, 11 June.
Born in South Korea in 1986 and raised in Norway, Henrik Uldalen, is a self-taught artist best known for his oil paintings which marry classical figurative style with expressionist influences and a contemporary vision. As such, he is gaining an impressive following and prints from his brand exhibition, Metanoia, specially created for Jean-David’s new gallery, will be given away to members of the public.
Jean-David Malat, founder of JD Malat Gallery, said: “As a keen supporter of emerging talent, it was only fitting that Henrik, who I discovered and have closely followed on Instagram, held his first major exhibition at JD Malat Gallery.
“Not only am I delighted to showcase his art to an audience who may not be familiar with his work, but also to provide the public with the opportunity to obtain their very own print. His star his clearly on the ascent and I’m sure we will continue to see wonderful things from this fantastic artist.”
Artist Henrik Uldalen said: “Metanoia is a deeply personal, evocative collection of work.
“I am thrilled that my work has been given this tremendous platform, Jean-David is a champion of up-and-coming artists.”
For Metanoia, Henrik Uldalen has worked in his signature style of oils, creating deeply atmospheric depictions of human figures obscured by thick layers of impasto, for an effect that is both otherworldly and emotionally familiar. The pieces are striking – showcasing a personal exploration of the psyche and human experience.
JD Malat Gallery is located close to the capital’s prestigious Berkeley Square, an area steeped in artistic history, making it a fitting addition to this culturally-rich neighbourhood.
In addition to holding exhibitions, JD Malat Gallery will serve as the intermediary in the sale of artists’ works. Furthermore, the gallery is set to become an artistic hub with regular host talks, conferences and student visits, creating a public space for all to enjoy.
To be in with a chance of obtaining one of these exclusive prints, visit JD Malat Gallery, 30 Davies Street, Mayfair, London, W1K 4NB, on Monday, 11 June, 2018, from 11am.
